Summer is the perfect time to make small changes to your routine and adopt healthier habits that will make you feel better, both physically and mentally. With the warmer weather and longer days, it’s easier to fit in outdoor activities, eat lighter meals and make the most of your rest time.

Start by taking a look at your routine

Start your day with energy — and without screens!

 

Avoid starting your day by checking your phone. Give yourself a few calm minutes in the morning, free from notifications. Breakfast is another important moment, so aim to eat a balanced mix of fresh fruit, whole grains, dairy products or plant-based alternatives, as well as drinking coffee or herbal tea.

 

For an energy boost mid-morning, grab a handful of nuts or some plain yoghurt — both are great sources of protein to keep you going until lunch.

 

 

Light and balanced meals are ideal for hot days

 

When temperatures rise, the body finds lighter meals more refreshing. Summer is the perfect time to enjoy salads, cold soups and fresh fruit!

At lunchtime, make sure you eat plenty of vegetables alongside carbohydrates (such as rice, pasta or potatoes) and proteins (like chicken, pulses or fish). For dinner, choose lighter dishes that are easier to digest and promote better sleep.

 

It's important to stay hydrated, especially in hot weather or if you’re exercising, so aim to drink between 1.5 and 3 litres of water a day.

 

 

Keep your body and mind active!

 

It's important to stay active, but if you're exercising outdoors, try to avoid the hottest times of day and limit your exposure to direct sunlight. If possible, set aside a couple of afternoons a week for the physical activity you enjoy most - it will boost both your physical health and your mood!

 

 

Getting enough rest makes a difference!

 

Getting a good night’s sleep is essential for feeling refreshed and performing well. Avoid screens before bedtime and create a calm, quiet atmosphere in your bedroom. Try to sleep in a cool room, and don't let your sleep routine get too off track just because the days are longer.

 

 

Enjoy your holiday with balance!

 

Summer holidays are a great chance to unwind, slow down and recharge. Give yourself permission to relax your routine and enjoy meals, socialising, and leisure time without feeling guilty. However, try not to abandon the habits that make you feel good entirely. Maintaining some regularity in sleep, diet, and exercise can make the transition back to daily life easier afterwards.
