Are you looking for a job? Here are 4 tips to help you approach your job search with confidence

06.08.2025

Not sure where to start with your job search? You're not alone. The hardest part is often organising your search and knowing which steps to take to land the job you want.

At Axxon, we’ve put together four tips to help you structure your job search and make it more effective.

1. Define what you're looking for (and what you're not)

Before sending out any applications, take a moment to consider the type of job you’d like to find, including the sector, role and working conditions. Also think about what you want to avoid, such as unsuitable hours or jobs that don’t align with your values or goals. This exercise will help you filter out unsuitable opportunities and avoid unnecessary frustration.

2. Make sure your CV and online profile are accurate

Your CV remains your key introduction, but it is now closely linked to your online presence. Make sure your LinkedIn profile is up to date and clearly shows your experience and interests. If you're not sure where to start, check out this episode of our podcast for tips on optimising your profile.

3. Tailor each application

Don't send the same CV to every company. Small adjustments can make a big difference: adapt the keywords to match each job posting and highlight the most relevant experience for the position. If you can, include a short cover letter or email explaining why you're interested in that particular role.

4. Don’t close yourself off to new possibilities

Being open to new possibilities doesn’t mean accepting everything, but rather exploring opportunities that you might not have previously considered. Moving to a different sector, taking on a slightly different role, or relocating to a new area can open unexpected doors.
