Using AI to help you prepare for a job interview

23.10.2024

Do you get nervous before a job interview? Do you practice what you have to say in front of the mirror? Afraid of not being fluent enough and freezing up? We have the solution!

Google has launched Interview Warmup, a tool that uses artificial intelligence to help you practise answering interview questions to gain confidence and feel more comfortable during the interview process.

How does it work?

Your answers are recorded and transcribed in real time so you can review what you've said and identify patterns in your responses. The tool offers suggestions and observations that you can apply later in the real interview.

Before you start, you will need to select the type of job you are interviewing for, as the questions vary and are chosen by experts in that particular field. There are three types of questions:

  • Basic questions: about your education and experience. They may include questions about your education, recent positions, interests and goals.
  • Situational questions: designed to find out how you have handled certain situations in the past and how you might handle them in the future.
  • Technical questions: designed to identify your specific workplace knowledge and skills. Typically they ask you how you would use your technical knowledge to solve hypothetical problems.

The insights provided by this tool allow you to identify the strengths and weaknesses of your answers. Interview Warmup helps you identify related technical terms you've used, as these can be used to highlight your knowledge. It also identifies the words you've repeated the most and suggests synonyms.

So you can stop practising in front of the mirror and get feedback that will help you stand out at your next interview. Want more tips on using AI to find a job
